LEVERevolution represents a breakthrough in ammo design for lever action rifles and revolvers. The key to its innovation and performance is the patented elastomer Flex Tip technology of the FTX and MonoFlex bullets. Safe to use in tubular magazines, these bullets feature higher ballistic coefficients and deliver dramatically flatter trajectory for increased down range performance.

The innovative LEVERevolution bullet design may require a newer magazine follower to provide best possible functioning of the last round out of the magazine. These magazine followers may be purchased from the manufacturer of your firearm. For optimum performance we do not recommend storing LEVERevolution ammunition in tubular magazines for extended periods, as this can result in tip deformation. Not recommended for use in handguns.

“The LEVERevolution offering in the 10mm Auto can be a bit confusing at face value. There’s a little bit to unpack here.

First, and most importantly, this load is in the LEVERevolution line. What that means for Hornady is that we selected the propellant and the bullet shape for optimal use out of the new Marlin carbine. We’ve opted for a slightly slower powder to take advantage of the longer carbine barrel. Likewise, the projectile was built for reliable terminal performance and feeding/function in the carbine. To get the bullet shape required, it had to be on the light side. Could we get more velocity if we desired? Yes. However, when fired from a carbine, the added velocity would dramatically change how the bullet performs on game and reduce penetration. Again, being limited on bullet shape to function in the tubular magazine, we simply could not make it heavier. We had to carefully balance the bullet shape/weight with the velocity from a carbine to ensure it is effective both from a function standpoint and with terminal performance.

Now, as you know, Hornady voluntarily complies with SAAMI standards. So, when you look at the velocity printed on the box, you’ll find that it was achieved using a SAAMI spec 5″ test barrel. The Marlin carbine will produce velocity 100-200 fps faster than the advertised speeds. Again – we had to be very cognizant of the use case of this ammo when designing the projectile. We certainly could get more velocity out of it, even from the 5″ test barrel – but that would have negatively impacted the terminal performance. Also, because we voluntarily comply to SAAMI standards, it is imperative that any 10mm ammo we make will fit, feed, and function from any SAAMI spec firearm, obviously including pistols.

In summary, we know that the LEVERevolution load is a bit more niche than some other offerings. The wonderful thing about the 10mm is that we have several options that compliment any customers endeavor – target shooting, self-defense, backcountry defense, duty carry, and hunting. We understand this particular load may not be perfect for every customer- but it is perfect for the Marlin carbine shooters.”
